Japanese tidying expert Marie Kondo’s famous method has taught us a lot about the relationship between tidying our home and living a structured and clear life. The goal is simply to clearly visualize what is truly necessary and what is not.
Her book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up,” conveys, for example, how tidying your home can help you develop certain skills that are very important for your daily life. But Kondo’s true secret is the ability to let go of everything that is useless or no longer needed. “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” discusses the inexplicable attachment some people have to their belongings and the great benefit of getting rid of them.
At our moving company, we know exactly what Kondo is referring to. It’s a reality we encounter daily. Our moving company’s CEO, Mª del Mar Serrano, recently spoke about this very topic on the radio program “Islàndia” on Rac1, hosted by Albert Om.
In conclusion, it was discussed that the tendency to accumulate things is absolutely true in developed countries, and that “Kondoing” (a term coined in the US, from Kondo and tidying) brings happiness. Therefore, it’s advisable to periodically pause and consider what items we can discard. An excellent time to do this is right before a move, which can save us a lot of time and money.
